Durham Dragons recently had the pleasure of having Jack Daniels  fly up for a dinner and speaking engagement in Pickering, many programs of the Dragons are based around Jacks methods. It was a great pleasure to have Jack visit us and review our youth development model, we look for to another visit in the near future.

Jack has 31 years of experience as a track and cross country coach. He has not only coached 31 individual NCAA National Champions, but has also coached eight  NCAA National Team Champions and 131 All Americans. He was named the NCAA Cross Country “Coach of the Century,” has been the “National Coach of the Year” three times and was named the “World’s Best Coach” by Runner’s World Magazine.

Jack has published five books on training, including the best-selling Daniels' Running Formula, and over 50 articles in scientific journals on both running and training. He has been an associate professor at many universities (University of Hawaii, University of Texas, Oklahoma City University) and is frequently asked to speak at coaching clinics around the country. He also spent six years as the research director for exercise physiology at Nike, Inc. and was a “Team Nike” honoree in 2003.

Jack was the altitude consultant for the U.S. Olympic Track and Field team at the Mexico City Olympics and spent one year as the head coach of Peru’s National Track Team. Jack also has personal competitive experience of his own, earning silver and bronze Olympic medals and a bronze World Championship medal in the modern pentathlon
